Mission Trip Opportunity for November 2016
We have an opportunity to serve flood damaged areas in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana from November 14-19. Our primary tasks will be mitigating flood damage and securing homes before winter weather.
There are four churches in the area who will be hosting volunteers. They will provide:
- Cots or air mattresses
- Full use of kitchen, including refrigeration, pots and pans and utensils
The Louisiana Conference charges $15 per person per night for church facilities and materials.
We will leave the Metro-Phoenix area on Saturday morning, 11/12, pick up the Tool Trailer near Austin on Sunday, 11/13, and arrive in Louisiana on Monday, 11/14. We will pull out of Louisiana on Saturday, 11/19, arriving back before Thanksgiving.
Everyone contributes $400 cash which covers common food purchases and conference charges (above). Excess funds will be equitably divided to help defray the cost of towing the trailer, nights on the road, and transportation. Meals eaten at restaurants are the individual’s responsibility. Our accident and liability insurance is covered by our Desert Southwest Annual conference.
There will be no organized group fund-raising, but often individuals or churches appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the team as a pay-er or a pray-er.
