PREAMBLE
1. This Strategic Direction defines a process of ongoing planning, action and review.
2. This Strategic Direction builds on and extends the effective and noble work of The United Methodist Church through its Desert Southwest Annual Conference.
3. The Strategic Direction will be reviewed annually by assigned ministry teams which submit reports to the Covenant Council.
The Covenant Council is responsible for oversight of the strategic direction process and reports annually to the Annual Conference on the status of the process. Assigned ministry team reports will include:
progress made to date,
any changes needed in the priority,
adequacy of resources to achieve the priority,
what the accountable ministry team is doing to ensure achievement of the priority.
4. The priority areas proposed identify our most pressing opportunities that need our urgent attention.
5. This Strategic Direction is reasonable, realistic and attainable for responding to our most pressing opportunities.
6. The Strategic Direction is deliberately focused and is not intended to be a comprehensive, long range plan that is all encompassing and all-inclusive of every issue that touches every constituency of the Annual Conference. We believe the acceptance of this Strategic Direction, with deliberately focused priorities, has the greatest chance of being achieved.
Our Vision, Our Mission
We believe God's vision for us is a transformed world through Jesus,
thus, our Mission is to Make Disciples of Jesus Christ.
One with Christ, One with Each Other, One in Ministry to All the World.
