Subject: Selling Swimsuits in the Arctic
SELLING SWIMSUITS IN THE ARCTIC (3 DVDs, apx. 90 minutes each)

These three DVDs are from the 2005 Leadership Institute held at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Kansas City. Led by Rev. Adam Hamilton and based on his book of the same name, Dics 1 and 3 tell the story of Bob, whose experience is illustrative of the principles of good marketing for churches. Both the book and the DVDs are informative and helpful for informing and inspiring church members and leaders to be evangelistic about their church.

Disc 2 is a related discussion of the book of Philippians' message for Christian leaders. Song of Life used this as the genesis for a 5 week series ("LIFE Together: Matters of the Heart") that looked at 7 core elements to living in community together. (Resources for this series, including sermons and small group materials, are available at our website, www.songoflifeumc.org).

Subject: The Present Future (Reggie McNeal)
THE PRESENT FUTURE (DVD curriculum, designed for 10 sessions)

Reggie McNeal shares in a seminar format information from his book THE PRESENT FUTURE: SIX TOUGH QUESTIONS FOR THE CHURCH. The text and seminar look at several shifts in culture that have occurred, and how the church can respond to them. The curriculum is a companion to his book, but can be led without reading it. In addition, there is a Leader's Guide and Participant's Guides in with the DVD set (these can be purchased separately through Amazon). There are less actual DVD segments than sessions, so this can be done in about 7 weeks.

We used this with our leadership group over a period of a few months, and they found the information challenging and informative.

We didn't use the DVDs, but our Vision Team got a lot out of Adam Hamilton's book entitled Selling Swimsuits in the Arctic a few years ago.

I have yet to see any material from Adam Hamilton that wasn't helpful. We're beginning his "Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White" Sunday morning. I have the book and DVD - they'll be available by about Advent. Any experiences with it?

We did "Seeing Gray in a World of Black & White" during our Sunday School time. It was great! We are willing to loan the DVD if anyone would like it.

Interest was expressed in Adam Hamilton's "Christianity's Family Tree" after the first of the year. Anyone have the DVD to lend?

Does anyone have unwanted copies of Rueben Job's "Three Simple Rules" you're tired of storing? It's a great little book and deserves to be in as many hands as possible. No one is flush with cash right now - how can we maximize our resources?
