One with Christ, One with Each Other, One in Ministry to All the World

Health & Welfare

The mission of the health and welfare committee is to make healthy disciples of Jesus Christ.  We seek to be in connection and foster optimum health for the constituents of the Desert Southwest Conference and beyond.

Our focus is on prevention of disease and to improve the welfare of each family and church through spiritual support, education, facilitating access to needed health care, nurturing and encouraging healthy life styles.

We strive to prevent those avoidable conditions that set up the cascade of events that lead to our need for admission or readmission to the hospital, treatment of preventable health injury, sidewalk Sunday school, HIV/Aids relief, homeless shelters and Domestic Violence intervention.

This site and our yearly Health & Welfare seminar are designed to promote holistic health in members of this faith community and surrounding community by providing leadership in identifying and responding to health-related need, group education, parish networking and coordination of congregation and community health resources.

Clergy, Caring ministries, Parish/Faith Community Nurses and other health care professionals work together to offer the tools to develop and nurture dynamic health ministries to the clergy and members of our local churches.
