Toothaker Hall at Mingus Destroyed by Fire

We are saddened to share the news that Toothaker Hall at Mingus Mountain Camp was destroyed by fire on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.  No one was injured, and no groups were in the camp at the time.  The fire was contained to the one building.  Nothing else at the camp was affected, outside of some power line damage.  Five inches of snow fell at Mingus that evening, ensuring that the fire was completely out.

Toothaker was one of the original buildings at Mingus.  It has been used in recent years as the Monday registration area for summer campers, and as a common area for summer camp workers.  A full story with more details will be in the next issue of the Desert Connection, and will also be posted on this page.
