Annual Conference Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments Need To Be Studied

The Desert Southwest Conference would like all that will attend our Annual Conference Session in June to be prepared to respond to Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments that will be discussed and voted on.  Every year our Annual Conference has presented to it numerous resolutions brought forth by various groups.  Many times in the past there have been complaints that these resolutions were not presented far enough in advance to have the Annual Conference Delegates share them with the members of their churches.  This year we have tried to have these Resolutions presented to you far in advance so intelligent discussion could take place.  Please study these resolutions and discuss them with leaders in your local church.

Every four years the United Methodist Church holds General Conference and from General Conference the Book Of Discipline sees revisions to policies and rules that our churches operate under.  This year at General Conference 32 Constitutional Amendments were agreed upon that must be accepted or rejected by each Annual Conference.  You will find them listed on our Conference Web Page and you will also see them printed in the Pre-Conference Report that will be mailed to each Conference Delegate at the end of April.  It is very important that each of our delegates attend a Pre-Conference Briefing because at each briefing there will be a member of our Annual Conferences General Conference Delegation to explain each Constitutional Amendment.  We are sure that these presentations and discussions will help one and all to vote intelligently on these Constitutional Amendments.
